Entrada Fellowship

The Entrada Field Station
announces the 2009-2010 Entrada Fellow

The Entrada Field Station is happy to announce the 2009-2010 Entrada Fellow, Matthew Mau, an undergraduate at the University of Utah in the Department of Biology.

"The recent acquisition of the Entrada Field Station by the University of Utah has opened the door for a new teaching and research experience in Southeastern Utah. Being a relatively new field station, an understanding of the animal diversity is needed to aide resesarchers and professors interested in working on the Entrada land. It is my goal to collect and classify the insect population of teh Entrada Field Station in each of the summer months to better understand this rich habitat.

The purpose of this research is to aide the overall development of the Entrada Field Station. An Insect catalog will help instructors and researchers involved in Ecology and Entymology to plan potential projects or class activities. With the help of several insect traps, Matthew hopes to create a diverse collection that others might find useful.

Matthews personal goals for this fellowship are mainly to learn more about a given Ecology and Entymology. He finds that he has learned quite a bit more about a given subject when he is immersed in a research project, and he is certain he stands to learn much during his time spent at the Entrada Field Station."
