Imagine an isolated location on the Colorado Plateau with a wild river and surrounded by the towering cliffs of red-rock canyon country. Imagine now that this is also a place to learn about the ecological, cultural, and geological wonders of southern Utah. Then also imagine a long-term, place-based opportunity for environmental research as well as for hosting the diversity of other scholarly activities ranging from creative writing to the arts to developing sustainability policy. This is our vision for the Entrada Field Station, a multi-disciplinary, outdoor laboratory for research, education, and outreach.
